Underhill is a small town located in the state of Vermont, United States. With a population of just over 1,000 people, the area is known for its rural charm and peaceful atmosphere. The town is situated in the northern part of the state, near the Canadian border, and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests.

The town was first settled in 1783 by settlers from Bennington, Vermont and named after Jonathan Underhill. The original settlers were farmers who cleared land for farming and built houses from logs cut from nearby forests. Over time, more people began to settle in the area, attracted by its scenic beauty and access to nature.

Today Underhill remains an idyllic place to live or visit. One of its most popular attractions is Mt Mansfield State Forest, which offers hiking trails that traverse through the surrounding woods and up to the summit of Mt Mansfield itself – Vermont’s highest peak at 4393 feet above sea level.

The downtown area offers a variety of restaurants featuring local cuisine as well as shops with locally made goods such as pottery and woodworking items. There are also several historical sites around town including an old mill building from 1820 that has been restored into a museum with displays about life during that time period.
